GERMAN BOMBING RAID IN RUSSIA SEVEN ENEMY AIRCRAFT SHOT DOWN. TARGET ESCAPES SERIOUS DAMAGE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) RUGBY, June 11. The Moscow radio reports that on an unspecified sector of the front, German bombers attempted to raid an important target. One group of enemy planes dropped flares, another attempted to silence the Soviet anti-aircraft batteries, while a third attempted to break through and bomb the target. Seven German bombers were shot down and the target did not suffer serious damage.
