MASTERTON BRANCH ACTIVITIES

COMMITTEE MEETING.

NURSE’S REPORT FOR MONTH,

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon. There were present: Mesdames J. Caselberg (in the chair), S. L. P. Free, N. Irwin, H. Morrison, H. Robinson, E. J. Helfer, P. Nathan, J. James, J. V. Gordon, T. Jordan, Kemble Welsh, H. H. Daniell, Sortain Smith,' A. H. Falloon, J. C. Broad, A. F. Stewart, C. A. Carmine, H. R. Keltie, E. G. Norman, C. T. Richardson, P. Andrew (Tinui), and Miss B. Kummer. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames G. Cowie, T. Wardell, D„ Donald and R. C. Drummond.

A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs C. A. Cameron and family on the death of Mr Cameron. A communication received from headquarters in connection with the distribution of egg chits, advised branches that no action should be taken in the matter. Headquarters also advised that the National Service Department had forwarded a certificate declaring the Plunket service to be an essential one.

Accounts amounting to £67 13s Id were passed. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on June 30, instead of June 23 as previously announced. Arrangements were being made for a speaker. Mrs Caselberg and Mrs Free attended the annual meeting of the Mauriceville sub-branch, when the former gave a short address upon the work being done at the Educational Centre, Dunedin, for the pre-school child. Thanks were expressed to Mrs H. Morrison and Mr Brcnkley for wood, and to Mesdames Borthwick, P. Andrew and Wrigley for other gifts. The nurse’s report stated: —Masterton: Visits to office (town), adults, 405; babies, 371; pre-school children, 76; total, 852; casuals, 11. Visits to homes (town), new cases, 22; old cases, 76; total, 98; pre-school children seen in homes (town), 10.

Tinui sub-branch: Taueru. Blairlogie, Whareama, Annedale, Tinui, 2 visits each; visits to homes, 24; pre-school children seen in homes, 4.

Mauriceville sub-branch: Mauriceville East and West, Kopuaranga, 2 visits each; new cases, 2. Visits to new cases, 2; visits to old cases, 15; total. 17.

Pre-natal section: New cases, 7; visits to own homes, 2; return visits, 7; casuals, 1; total, 17.
