SALE AT ADDINGTON CATTLE BRING GOOD PRICES. VALUES OF PRIME SHEEP INCREASE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 9. A heavy entry of cattle again sold well at Addington today, with firming values. There was a better representation of prime sheep, notably wethers. These prime wethers advanced by Is 6d to 2s a head on last week's rates. Butchers’ ewes a’so had a brisker market, while medium, and lighter sorts were bought freely by the freezing companies at up to schedule rates. Numerous pens of wethers sold from 33s to 36s with tops at 40s. Prime ewes made 28s to 325. A pen of Romney lambs made 26s 6d. Secondary and inferior cattle showed no change in values. A truck of eight steers made £22 7s 6d to £22 16s 6d. The average improvement over the whole sale was about Is 6d to 2s per 1001 b. Best beef made to 45s per 1001 b.; extra, to 48s; prime heavy, 38s to 41s. * Baconers were in smaller supply and values firmed slightly. Pork averaged 8d per lb./and bacon 8d to BJ/2d.8 J /2d.
MASTERTON SALE MORE BUOYANT TONE. BETTER PRICES FOR ALL STOCK. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their Masterton sale yesterday:— There was a far more buoyant tone at yesterday's sale and all classes of stock sold at better prices. Ewes r.w. ram were in good demand and values showed a marked increase. Ewe lambs looked good buying compared with wether hoggets which sold particularly well. Very few fats were penned and those offered were of inferior quality. The following are the prices received: —2tooth ewes, r.w. Southdown ram (small). 14s 3d to 15s 6d; 4-th. ewes. r.w. Southdown ram (good), 18s Id: m.a. ewes, r.w.. Southdown ram, 12s 6d to 15s Gd; 2-th. wethers, 17s 2d to 19s 8d; woolly w. hoggets, 12s 6d to 13s sd; small, 3s 6d to Ils; shorn w. hoggets, 14s Id to 14s 7d; small, 8s Gd to 10s 3d; b.f. hoggets. 12s 2d to 13s; w. ewe hoggets. 8s to 9s 8d; shorn ewe hoggets. 7s Gd to 8s 7d; light fat b.f. hoggets. 17s 5d to 19s; fat ewes, 13s to 17s; maiden fat 2-th. ewes, 22s • fat wethers. 25s Bd.
