WAR LABOUR BOARD
INTERVENTION IN AMERICAN COAL DISPUTE
PUBLIC MEETING CALLED.
REPORTS WANTED FROM BOTH PARTIES.
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day. 12.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 9.
The War Labour Board has called a public meeting tomorrow in the deadlocked soft coal wage controversy, notifying operators and the United Mine Workers’ Association that it will be ready to receive reports on the disputed issues, so that the board may proceed to a final disposition of the controversy. The Associated Press points out that Mr J. L. Lewis so far has consistently refused io recognise the board’s jurisdiction, for which reason it is questionable whether the U.M.W.A. will attend the meeting.
