Mrs C. G. Monro, King Edward Street, Lansdowne, is visiting Christchurch.
Mrs Cliff Murfitt, New Plymouth, is staying with her mother, Mrs C. C. van Praagh, Essex Street, Masterton. Miss Una Holtham, of Masterton, left today for Auckland, to join the Women’s Royal Naval Auxiliary Service.
Miss Elizabeth Merton, Palmerston North, was the guest of Mrs R. L. McLaren, Roberts Road, Lansdowne, over the week-end.
The candidature of Mrs Catherine Stewart, M.P. for the Wellington West seat, has been unanimously endorsed by a combined meeting of the members of the executives of all the Labour Party branches in the electorate.
The funeral of the late Mr James Gill took place in Masterton yesterday afternoon. The Rev. Father N. Moore conducted the service at St. Patrick’s Church and that at the graveside. There was a representative attendance of mourners. The pall-bearers were: Messrs T. P., J. M., A. J., and B. W. Gill, sons of the late Mr Gill.
