Dates applied for by racing clubs in the lower half of the North Island from New Plymouth and Napier southward for the new racing season, commencing on August 1, are as follow: — August: 7th, Hawke’s Bay Hunt and Dannevirke Hunt; 28th, Taranaki Hunt. September: 11th, Carterton and Wanganui; 18th, Wanganui; 25th, Foxton. October: 2nd or 9th, Hawke’s Bay; 9th, Otaki; 16th, Stratford, Masterton and Rangitikei; 23rd and 25th, Wellington; 25th, Waverley. November: 6ih and 13th, Napier; 20th, Levin; 27th, Masterton. December: 11th, Woodville; 27th, Taranaki: 27th and 28th. Manawatu. January: Ist and 3rd, Marton; Ist and 3rd (or April 8 and 10), Wairarapa; Ist and 3rd or Ist and Bth, Stratford; 15th and 22nd, Wellington; 29th, Pahiatua. February: 12th, Otaki, Opunake and Egmont; 19th, Woodville and Egmont; 26th, Taranaki. ■March: 4th, Taranaki; 11th, Wellington; 18th, WeUington; 18th or 25th, Manawatu; 25th, Hawke’s Bay. April: Ist. Hawke’s Bay: Bth and 10th. Feilding; 10th Waipukuratr. May: 6th, Egmont. June: 3rd, Napier and Wanganui; 10th, Napier; 17th, Manawatu: 24th. Hawke's Bay. July: Ist and Sth. Wellington; 22nd, Ma-nawatu-Rangitikei Hunts combined. The above applications are subject to the recommendations of the Dates Committee, which will submit its report to the annual conference of delegates in July for confirmation.

The Wellington District Committee has recommended the application of the Masterton Racing Club for a second day. Clubs not applying for dates in the new season are: Cromwell, Kurow, Tolaga Bay. Clifden, Wairoa, and the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt.

At a sale of thoroughbreds held at Epsom Mr J. McMaster. Martinborough, purchased Jolie Dance (Spear Dance—Jolie Fille) for 50 guineas.
