NAVY LEAGUE
AUSTERTON BRANCH MEETING OF LADIES’ AUXILIARY. PATRIOTIC WORK. The monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Navy League was held yesterday afternoon, Mrs S. R. Gawith presiding. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames O. A. Bunny, W. G. Lamb, D. Buchanan, H. Beetham, W. H. Robieson, H. K. Mclntosh and Miss B. Vallance. The annual'report of the Wellington branch was received and discussed. It was decided to make a donation of £lO to the Wellington Navy League Sea Cadet Corps.
A copy of the report of the Missions to Seamen was received and extracts read. It was decided to ask for more copies for distribution to some of the Navy League members. The wool committee reported that 72 garments had been packed ready for transport to Wellington. The purchasing committee reported that 11 garments had been purchased in May and forwarded to the Seamen’s Mission.
An invitation was received for committee members to attend the League of Mothers meeting at Knox Hall on Wednesday, June 16, at vzhich the Rev B. J. Williams, Port Chaplain of the Seamen’s Mission, would be the speaker. Six new members were enrolled.
Forty-two novels donated by Mrs A. Campbell, Kuripuni Street, to be given to the men of the Navy, were forwarded to Wellington.
