SOVIET AIR ATTACK
ON JUNCTION IN OREL AREA MANY FIRES AND EXPLOSIONS CAUSED. DESTRUCTION OF ENEMY PLANES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, June 7. Russian aircraft last night raided a railway junction on thev Orel front. A special Moscow announcement says the attack was on a big scale. The targetsNncluded munition dumps, arms and fuel stores, and a concentration of German trains. Many fires were started and large explosions were seen. One Soviet plane was lost.
Last night a hundred German planes attacked Gorki, 200 miles east of Moscow. Soviet fighters and anti-aircraft gunfire drove off a large number of the attackers. The few enemy raiders which got through the defences dropped their bombs, at random. A certain amount of material damage was done, and there were casualties among the civilian population. Without loss to themselves, the Russian fighters shot down 12 German machines.
