WAIRARAPA RUGBY UNION I SATURDAY’S GAMES. CARTERTON BEATEN BY ARMY TEAM. In a close and interesting game at Rugby Park. Masterton. on Saturday afternoon, Air Force beat a Combined team of Red Star, Cid Boys Masterton and Air Force players by 14 points to 11. For Air Force, McCullum, a former Taranaki representative player and’ Henderson, a promising player’ from Christchurch stood out for good work. Tries for Air Force were scored by Dunstan, Carter, Henderson (converted by White) and McCullum. The Combined team played a good heady gameExploiting fast forward play the Army team experienced little trouble in soundly beating a strong Carterton combination by 19 points to 6 at Featherston in a senior game on Saturday afternoon. The Army forwards played well and kept play close. However the ball was often) “given the air” and play was bright and interesting. Bustling and strong attacking play by the Army team overwhelmed the Carterton pack. Carterton A beat Old Boys by 8 points to nil in a third grade match played at Carterton. College beat Greytown by 11 points to 8 in a third grade A match. Masterton beat Carterton by G points to a in a third grade B match.
