WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
SOLWAY-M ANAI A. COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Sol-way-Manaia Women’s Institute, Mrs Munn presided and welcomed a large attendance of members and friends. Miss Wolters, president of the Wairarapa Federation of Women's Institutes, gave a very interesting address on the Women’s Institute movement. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and presented with a posy. Seven new members were welcomed.
Members of the Institute were asked to donate one book each to be forwarded to soldiers.
The competitions resulted as follow: —Sewing workbox: Mrs Catton, 1; Mrs Cornick, 2; Mrs Sutherland and Mrs Curry, equal, 3. Posy in egg-cup: Mrs Catton, 1; Mrs Curry. 2; Mrs Scrivener, 3. Best bloom, small: Mrs Smith. 1; Mrs Allen, 2. Best bloom, large: Mrs Smith, 1: Mrs Catton, 2; Mrs Allen, 3. Fruit: Mrs Tulloch, 1; Mrs Allen, 2; Mrs Munn, 3. Jelly: Mrs Tulloch, 1; Mrs Allen, 2. Jam: Mrs Smith, 1: Mrs Tulloch, 2.
The hostesses for the July meeting will be Mesdames Carman, Downes, Foster, Henderson and Kirk,
