The victories of Town Survey and Chat were features of the opening day of the Auckland Racing Club’s winter meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday, when the racing was marred by rain. The attendance was 40.600. against 27,500 last year. The totalisator handled £155,116, compared with £110,853 on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £44,203.
