MASTERTON BRANCH. MEETING OF MEMBERS. Miss Tankersley presided over a fair attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Masterton Women’s Christian Temperance Union. Mrs Jansen led the devotions. The Temperance fact read by Mrs Morice was as follows: “And, lads, there is one thing more—drink. As long as you keep from that I know you will be all right. I do implore you to remember that even if one per cent fail the one per cent will bring discredit on Australia and New Zealand.” —General Birdwood. Mrs H. Speight continued her report on the Dominion Convention, adding interesting sidelights from the “White Ribbon,” for which she received the thanks of the meeting. A bring and buy table did good business. Mesdames Morice and Kitchener served a much appreciated afternoon tea. Plans for future work by the W.C.T.U. were discussed.
