WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT MAURICEVILLE APPEAL FOR BOOKS. COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Mauriceville district’s Women's Institute held its monthly meeting at the home of Mrs Nikolaison, when Mrs Baine presided over a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Godden, Lehmstedt and McAuley. Mrs Baine extended the sympathy of members to Mrs Trass in connection with the death of her husband. It was decided to assist in the “Victory Book Drive” and donations of books may be left with Alan Broadbent before June 10. Two new members were nominated for the committee, Mesdames Stack and R. Nielsen. The competitions resulted as follows: —Something new from something old, Mrs Nikolaison 1, Miss J. Larsen ancl Mrs Baine equal 2; best bloom. Miss J. Larsen 1, Miss R. Mortensen and Mrs Broadbent equal 2. The president thanked the hostesses, Mrs G. Nielsen and Mrs O. Mortensen, and Mrs Nikolaison for the use of her home.
