BIG DRIVE
LAUNCHED BY CHINESE IN THE YANGTSE VALLEY. HEAVY PRESSURE ON JAPANESE FLANK. LONDON. May 31. Chinese troops have launched a biq drive against the Japanese in the Yangtse Valley, west of Hanke w. The drive was made after the Chinese forces had rearranged their positions, arid they are attacking the enemy on an extended lino. Chinese troops have reached a district six miles south of Ichang, and are exerting heavy pressure on the enemy’s” flank positions. Vigorous air attacks are being made on the enemy's new positions, and the enemy forces are showing signs of collapse. _____
