A report from a special committee expressing the view that there is no objection to cremation was adopted by the upper house of the Convocation of Canterbury, a London cablegram states. The report stated that on social and hygienic grounds there was much to commend cremation, provided due safeguards for decency and reverence were exercised. “We attach no theological significance to the practice,” the report added. “We express the conviction that the practice does not in any way affect the Church's belief in the resurrection of the body.”
