GREYTOWN

WOMEN’S DIVISION BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown branch of the Womens Division of the Farmers’ Union was held yesterday afternoon. Mrs Beu presided over a good attendance 1 of members. Sympathy was expressed with Mrs Tully, Senr., who was at present having treatment in the Wellington Hospital and with Mrs K. Kempton, who is in the Greytown Hospital.

Mrs Beu thanked all who had helped with the Anzac Day luncheon and commented on the successful shop day which had been held recently to augment the division’s funds. There wag still khaki wool to be knitted up for men of the fighting forces. An invitation was received from the Carterton branch to attend its birthday to be held on June 4 in the Masonic Hall. Mesdames Beu and Wiggins were appointed to represent Greytown.

Thanks were received from Auckland and Wellington children’s homes for used stamps. The annual Dominion conference had been cancelled this year and only the executive would meet.

A grant of £5 5s was passed for the housekeeping account, A donation of, £ 1 was passed to be sent to the Ros't Homo to help to purchase a much-needed refrigerator.

Mi’s Higgs, of Featherston, was the speaker for /he afternoon. She gave an interesting talk on her trip around the world. Mrs Beu thanked Mrs Higgs for her talk and presented her with a shoulder spray. The hostesses for the afternoon wore Mesdames A. Gregor, A. Johnson, W. Hodge and A. Haigh. Personal. Mr and Mrs T. G. R. Ingley, of Morison’s Bush, are spending a holiday in Rotorua.

Miss D. Tully has returned to Waipawa.

TOWN HALL TWO BIG ATTRACTIONS.

Two attractions will be shown at the Town Hall this evening, a dramatic story of the home front, “Joe Smith, American” and “Tugboat Annie Sails Again,” in which mirth and laughter excel throughout. Robert Young and Marsha Hunt appear in the first-named feature and Marjorie Rambeau and Alan Hale in the other.
