MAJOR SURPRISE
UNLIKELY ON RUSSIAN FRONT AT THIS TIME OF YEAR. BOTH SIDES CONCENTRATING ON AIR ACTION. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) LONDON. May 25.
The significant lull prevailing on the Russian-German front is generally unbroken, but there are sporadic artillery fire and scouting in some sectors. Both sides continue to concentrate on air war, each hacking at the other's transport. While damage, has been caused to communications, which are sometimes interrupted, it is obvious that both Russians and Germans continue to get up large quantities of supplies. The ground forces continue their watchful waiting. The Russians are holding on to their newly-won lines in the Lisichansk district and also north-east of Novorossisk. “It is hardly likely," says the Associated Press Moscow correspondent, “that either side will be able to spring a major surprise at this time of the year, when the nights are very shoi i and both sides are engaging in constant reconnaissance.”
