ENEMY PUSHED BACK IN SOUTH-WEST BUT MAKING GAINS IN YANGTSE AREA. TOWN NEAR ICHANG TAKEN. LONDON, May 25. The new Japanese thrust in south-west China seems to have failed . The Chinese are pushing the enemy columns back and have recaptured a town north of the Burma Road, The Japanese column on the Yangtse is pushing deeper into the interior. It has taken a town near the big Yangtse port of Ichang. DAMAGE DONE TO JAPANESE CAMPS & BARRACKS. ALLIED BOMBING IN BURMA. LONDON, May 25. In Burma R.A.F. Blenheims yesterday attacked a Japanese camp in the Upper Chindwin area and American bombers found targets in Upper Burma. Both attacks caused much damage to barrack buildings.
