GERMAN TROOPS
RUSHED TO SARDINIA SOME TRANSPORT PLANES SHOT DOWN. BERLIN TALKS OF STRONG DEFENCES. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, May 24. The Berlin radio revealed that German troops have arrived in Sardinia. The radio emphasised recent improvements to the island's strong defences. A later message states that following upon the claim that German troops are being rushed to Sardinia, it is commented in London that the report in the weekend of the shooting down of German transport planes may be thus explained.
