INDOOR BASKETBALL

WAIRARAPA INTERHOUSE COMPETITIONS. INTERESTING & KEEN GAMES. The Wairarapa Interhouse Association's indoor basketball competition was continued in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium, Masterton, last night. Play was interesting and keenly contested and there was a large attendance of spectators. Woolworth’s showed an improvement in team work in the game, they played against Cathie’s, and are doing well. Cathie’s were slow to start but when warmed up they gave a good exhibition of co-operation. McDuff’s and Transport showed a lack of knowledge of the rules. Borthwick’s played with understanding in their game againsff Cathie’s B while the weakness of Cathie’s defence indicated that practice was necessary, Cody’s turned on an outstanding performance against C. Smith’s. The latter team seemed to lack understanding among its players. Lancer’s played their usual attractive game against Rangers. Rangers missed the members of the team absent through illness. McKenzie’s and Sparklets played a spirited match. The former team lacked combination while Sparklets showed a vast improvement. The match Rangers-Hansell's was fair. W.F.C.A. B and Hosiery Mills put up splendid performances. Both sides combined well. United and McDuff’s A showed lack of combination. More practice should correct that fault. _ The referees were Messrs B. Maidelick, Reilly, Higgins and Cornelius, of the Marine Corps.

Results:—Hosiery Mills beat W.F.C.A. B, 12-11; United beat McDuff’s A, 12-10; Lancers beat Rangers A. 10-4; Hansell’s B beat Rangers B, 8-4; Sparklets beat McKenzie's, 14-9; Cody's beat C. Smith’s, 16-4; Borthwick’s beat Cathie’s B, 23-4; McDuff’s drew with Transport, 2-2; Cathie’s A beat Woolworth’s A, 12-4. The match GaragesHansell’s A will be played at a later date.
