A WORTHY CITIZEN
FUNERAL OF SIR A. RANSOM. PRIME MINISTER'S TRIBUTE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, This Day. The funeral of the late Sir Alfred Ransom, held yesterday, was one of the biggest seen in the district. The Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) represented the Government and Mr W. J. Broadfoot (Chief Opposition Whip) represented the Parliamentary National Parly. Several other past and present members of Parliament were present. Business premises were closed while the funeral was in progress. All the local bodies to which Sir A. Ransom had belonged were represented. There was a great array of wreaths. Mr Fraser, in a pre-funeral tribute, said he had always held Sir A. Ransom in very high esteem. As a Minister of the Crown he was always approachable and helpful. He was one of New Zealand’s best citizens. All sections of the House would deplore the passing of a very deservedly popular member and worthy citizen.
