ATTACK ON DAMS

NOT INSPIRED BY OUTSIDE SOURCE AIR MINISTRY STATEMENT. ALL IMPORTANT OBJECTIVES LONG LISTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, May 23. The Air Ministry denies that the attack on the German dams was inspired by any outside source. It says: “It is quite true that members of the public several times suggested an attack against the dams, but the operation did not originate with any such suggestion.

“All important German objectives, including dams, have long since been methodically examined by intelligence and planning authorities with a view to attack at the most favourable moment.” This denial followed the German threats of terribe reprisals against the Jews of Europe, based on a public statement that the original suggestion came from an exiled German-Jewish doctor.

NO BRITISH PRISONERS DROWNED IN RUHR FLOODS. FOLLOWING ON BREAKING OF DAMS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) RUGBY, May 24. The War Office has announced that the German High Command, in response to an inquiry through the protecting power, advised that no British prisoners of war lost their lives by drowning as a' result of the raids on the Mohne and Eder Dams.
