ATTACK ON E-BOATS

MADE BV BRITISH NAVAL PLANES THREE ENEMY CRAFT BELIEVED SUNK. FIVE OTHERS SUFFER SEVERE DAMAGE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) RUGBY, May 24. Eight E-boats in the Channel were attacked by aircraft early this morning, three, it is believed, being sunk, and the other five severely damaged. The E-boats were, met about 30 miles off the Isle of Wight by Albacores of the Fleet Air Arm, operating under the Fighter Command. The attack went on several hours during the night, and although bad weather prevented pilots and observers seeing the final result of the bombing, they believe that at least three E-boats were sunk and the rest severely damaged.
