Order-in-Council. 1943, the Foreign Office Diplomatic Service, the Commercial Diplomatic Service and the Consular Service aie amalgamated and the members hitherto of three services automatically become members of the new single service. , The order provides for the inclusion in the Foreign Service, at the direction of the Foreign Secretary and at dates determined by him (not later than two years after the end of the war) of civil servants employed in the Foreign Office, cf those employed in the Department of Overseas Trade and subordinate members of the staffs of diplomatic missions or consulates.
