FUTURE DISPOSITION
OF NEW ZEALAND ARMED FORCES DISCUSSED IN SECRET SESSION. MAJOR STRATEGY & MANPOWER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The secret session of the House of Representatives to discuss the war situation which began on Thursday night was resumed yesterday at 10.30 a.m. It ended at 1 p.m., when the following official statement was issued by direction of the Speaker, Mr Barnard: — "The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, placed before the House of Representatives the factors involved in determining the future employment and disposition of the armed forces of the Dominion. Particulars were given which enabled the matter to be considered against the background of major strategical plans and the manpower situation in New Zealand. Six other members participated in the discussion.”
The House then adjourned till 7.30 p.m. on Thursday, when the Budget will be presented. The debate on the Budget will begin on Tuesday, June 1.
