TOBACCO SUPPLIES
NEW ZEALANDERS IN R.A.F. The National Patriotic Fund Board has been advised that to supplement gift cigarettes and tobacco sent from the Dominion from time to time arrangements have been made with the British Customs authorities for the importation of duty-free tobacco and cigarettes from New Zealand for re-sale to New Zealanders serving in the R.A.F. in Great Britain.
An undertaking has been given that the tobacco and cigarettes will be sold only by the office of the New Zealand War Services’ Association, London, and that the quantity sold to any one individual will not exceed 8 ounces a month.
A consignment for resale purposes is being sent periodically by the National Patriotic Fund Board. The New Zealand Forces Club, London, according to recent reports, continues to be well patronised. An indication of this is given from the following figures relating to a period of 24 days. Average daily takings—canteen £4l 13s -sd, snack bar £4B 4s 2d. total number of meals provided 70,367, number of teas, etc., 65,293.
