FEED SHORTAGE AFFECTS PRICES The Associated Auctioneers held their weekly sale at the Colombo Road yards yesterday. The attendance was up to average but no outside buyers were present. The yarding consisted of some 6,000 sheep which was well up to the advertised number. Due to the shortage of feed generally, the market was depressed. Fat sheep sold at satisfactory prices, while good w.w. lambs were on a par with late rates, but medium and cull lambs were hard to quit. The market for ewe lambs and ewes was neglected. The following will serve to indicate values:

Fats: Fat down wethers, good, 29s 3d to 24s 6d; fat wethers, 26s 9d, 25s 4d, 24s 6d to 245; fat downs, 26s 4d; fat lambs, 22s 6d, 21s 6d, 20s 3d to 20s; fat ewes, 16s 6d, 16s 4d, 16s Id, 14s 6d to 13s.

Store sheep: 2-th wethers 19s 6d, 18s, 16s Bd, 16s 6d to 15s; small 2-th ewes, 13s 3d to 13s; 2, 4 and 6-th ewes, r.w. r.r., 15s; f.f. ewes, 8s 2d; m.a. store ewes, 4s, 3s 3d. W.W. lambs: Good, 13s 3d, 12s lOd, 12s 2d, 12s, Ils Bd, others Ils, 10s Bd, 10s 2d, 8s 9d; cull, 5s Id to 7s Id; shorn w.f.w. lambs, 12s, Ils 3d; b.f. lambs, 12s Bd, Ils 4d, 9s 9d, 8s lOd, 8s to 6s 6d; woolly ewe lambs, 15s 2d, 10s, 9s 9d; small, 8s 6d, 9s 2d to 6s; m.s. lambs, 7s 2d.
