ADDRESS BY QUEEN
TO MEMBERS OF YOUTH SERVICES. RED CROSS AND ORDER OF ST. JOHN. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 16. The Queen addressing an Empire Youth Sunday parade of 2000 boy and girl members of the Red Cross and Order of St. John Youth Services, on the lawns at Buckingham Palace, said: “Today our hearts are filled with thanksgiving for the great events which have marked the past weeks and for the success which, under God’s guidance, has rewarded the endurance and courage of countless men and women from all parts of the Empire. Among them are the fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers of many of you. _ “All these have given up all that is most dear to them because they believed that no price was too great to pay for justice, liberty and truth. It is for you, the youth of this country, to show that you are not unmindful of their example. I would like you to go home with the firm resolve to work as bravely and steadfastly for a better world for all mankind in the peace to come as you are working now to end this war in victory. To do this, you must train yourselves now to be able to fulfil this resolve in the future—to serve one another selflessly and put all your trust in Almighty God.”.
