RESULTS OF ALLIED ATTACKS ON U=BOATS DURING PAST SIX WEEKS. AIR AND OTHER FACTORS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 14. The results of Allied attacks on U-boats ■have been most encouraging during the past six weeks. It is stated in London naval circles that the improved results of attacks are one of the causes of the fewer sinkings in April. So far as is known the U-boats have not adopted new methods to counteract the increasing attacks, but tactics do change from time to time. One factor in the successes of recent months has been the improvement in air strength. Both the Fleet Air Arm and. the R.A.F. naval escort forces are improving steadily.
