FAT CATTLE PRICES EASIER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 12. Though there were small yardings of store sheep and cattle at Addington today, the entries of fat stock were again large. Fat cattle eased sharply in price. The store sheep entry comprised only 1030 lambs and 1060 adult, sheep. Ewe lambs showed a rise of 2s a head and sold up to 27s 3d. Wether lambs were in short supply, the best selling at 19s Id. A line of fat and forward wethers sold for 25s 6d, ewes in lamb up to 25s Gd. The fat sheep entry totalled 6000. against 7000 last week, and included a bigger number of wethers than for some weeks past. These were of good quality and were keenly competed for by the trade at prices well in advance of recent rates, and well up to the increased schedule. The highest price was 39s Id, and others sold from 32s 7d to 37s Id. Good ewes also sold well at the new schedule limit, the highest price being 28s lOd.

Cne of the heaviest entries of the season was forward in the fat cattle section, and in addition the yarding was one of the best quality, including a line of over 30 from Southland and other consignments from intermediate districts. The market was weaker from the outset and slipped badly for excess heavy cattle in he concluding stages. Heavy steers were down by 30s a head and medium weights and other quality by 20s. There were some passings. Best medium weight prime steers macle 41s per 1001 b., heavy beef to 38s, medium quality to 375, secondary to 345, and inferior to 265. The porker entry was again heavy, including 3‘/a trucks from the West Coast. There was a large proportion of plain and unfinished pigs and this class jvas easier by 6s to 7s a head, while good types were also easier bv 3s to 4s a head; average price per lb. 7>/ 2 d to B%d. Choppers were in medium supply and the demand was again keen, with no change in values. The baconer entry was smaller than last week and prices were fully up to late values; average price per lb. 7‘/4d to SlLcl.
