At the May meeting of the Nireaha Women’s Institute, Mrs Terry (president) welcomed members and a visitor, Mrs Welch, of Warkworth. The motto for May was: “I take my hat off to the past, but my coat off to the future.” The roll call, “The first thing I remember,” brought forth some interesting memories. Mrs Terry was appointed delegate to attend the Dominion Conference at Gisborne in June. Members were ask-
ed to prepare articles suitable for sale at the stall at the conference, to be brought to the July meeting. Fourteen members offered to make biscuits this month for soldiers overseas, and the next-of-kin of five prisoners of war would receive the usual quarterly donation of 7s 6d each. The Soldiers’ Fund benefited by £1 13s 4d from the auctioning of produce. Four pairs of mittens, a balaclava and three scarves were handed in by members for men of the forces.
