DAYLIGHT ACTION
RESUMED BY THE R.A.F. IN IMPROVING WEATHER SNEAK RAID ON BRITAIN. NUMBER OF A.T.S. GIRLS KILLED BY BOMB. ' LONDON, May 11. With the return of springlike weather, after the recent gales in the Straits of Dover, big K.A.F. forces were over the Channel today, when daylight attacks were resumed. A German plane was shot down over the Channel. There was some enemy shellfire across the Straits. Sneak raiders took advantage of the sea haze and raided an East Anglia town. The bodies of eleven A.T.S. girls were recovered from a hostel which was hit by a bomb. Rescue squads arc- searching for others. TWO RAIDERS SHOT DOWN SEVERAL OTHERS DAMAGED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.51 a.m.) RUGBY, May 11. One raider was shot down and several others were damaged when four Mustangs intercepted a formation of Focke Wulfs which attacked an east coast town this morning. A second enemy plane was destroyed by an l ’.- aircraft fire.
