GUNS POUNDING DEFENCES OF NOVOROSSISK.

LONDON, May 11

Moscow reports that in the Kuban Soviet artillery is steadily pounding the enemy’s mountain defence line northeast, of Novorossisk, in preparation for a further advance by Russian infantry.

Correspondents state that a new Soviet offensive may be expected at any time in the Orel sector, south of Moscow. The Red Air Force has been bombing and strafing enemy railway communications in this area. Briansk has been attacked nine times in succession.
