CROQUET CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Greytown Croquet Club was held at the residence of Mrs H. G. Carter on Monday ; evening. There was a good attendance , of members. : The annual report was submitted by ■ the secretary, Mrs A. Haigh, and the ; treasurer, Mrs A. Gregor, produced a , satisfactory balance sheet. , | The president, Mrs H. G. Carter, 1 | moving the adoption of the report and | balance sheet congratulated the members on the interest shown during the year. The improvement of the play 0 the junior members of the club was most gratifying. The’’election of officers resulted: Patroness, Mrs A. W. Horton; president, Mrs H G. Carter; vice-presidents, Mesdames E. Maddison, J. Kiernan and Miss Hill; secretary, Mrs A. Haigh; treasurer, Mrs A. Gregor; club captain, Mrs A. Gregor; match committee, Mesdames J. Brunton, A. Haigh, F. JNichols and J. Reid; tea convenor, Mrs Brunton; general committee, aR members; green supervisor, Miss Udy; delegate to association meeting, Mrs H. G. Carter. A 10s donation from Mrs J. Kiernan for a trophy for next season was gratefully received. Shop Day Effort. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union shop day, which was held on Friday, was a great success. _ The competition winners were:—Dinner, Mr J. Terry; cake, made by Mrs Beu, Mr McLaren, Buchanan Home; hand crocheted table centre, Mrs Vinsen. The amount raised was £32. Mrs Beu, president of the division, expiessed satisfaction at the amount raised and thanked all donors of gifts. Personal. Mr and Mrs S. C. Shedden are spending the school holidays in the Manawatu district. Mr and Mrs R. C. O’Neale, of Battersea, . accompanied by their two daughters, are spending a holiday at Waikanae. Night in Bush. France Skeet, John Lyford and Keith Garrity, three Greytown lads, spent Sunday night in the Tararuas. Early in the morning they started out on a deer stalking expedition. Owing to the rough going they were late in returning and when darkness came, decided to camp for the night. When they did not return on Sunday night arrangements were made for search parties and early on Monday morning Constable Gregor and a party set out into the hills. Fortunately they met the lads on their way out none the worse for their experience. TOWN HALL “SHE’S MY LOVELY.” This evening’s programme at the Town Hall is headed by “She’s My Lovely,” in which Gloria Jean and Donald O’Connor take the principal roles. A bright musical comedy, this picture is said to provide splendid entertainment.
