LENDING LIBRARY FORMED

Mrs E. Albretchsen presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Women’s Institute held recently. The secretary reported that Kaiparoro would be the visiting institute for the July meeting.
Mrs R. Farrow was appointed the delegate to attend the Dominion Conference at Gisborne in July. It was decided to send an article to the conference for the bring -and buy stall. Mrs Sturgeon (secretary) read an interesting report of the annual council meeting held at Mangamutu last month and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. It was announced that Mrs Winter of Rongokokako had been appointed hon secretary to the Bush Federation. A bring and buy stall did good business. It was decided to organise a lending library amongst the members, each member to bring a book to the next meeting. Miss M. Hooper was appointed librarian. Competition winners were as follow: —Service mittens, Mrs Sturgeon 1, Mrs R. Farrow 2 and 3; largest potato, Mrs C. Oliver; premier bloom, Mrs C. Oliver 1, Mrs McAllister 2, Mrs Petersen and Mrs McAlister (equal) 3; flowers, Mrs McAlister 1, Mrs Baucke 2,
Mrs C. Oliver and Mrs Higginson (equal) 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs Carter and Miss Hooper. Personal. Mrs L. Dowsett, Otaki, and Mr and Mrs Jack Frederickson and family are visiting Mrs A. Fredrickson, Anderson Street. Mrs F. Hooper, Stanley Street, has been on a visit to Auckland.
