CHURCHMEN AND SOVIET

AMERICAN ADVOCACY OF CO-OPERATION. (Bv Tcleeraph—Press Association— Copyright) NEW YORK, May 10. A statement which is signed by 32 Protestant leaders has been issued urging support for American-Russian cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, “which is essential for winning the war.” The statement says that the disagreement on religious and democratic issues must not obscure this cardinal point, and it adds: “There are signs that Russian officials are showing a more liberal attitude toward religion. This trend is more likely to continue if American churchmen are willing to approach the Russians with a friendly instead of a hostile or negative attitude.”
