LADIES’ HOCKEY
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION’S COMPETITIONS RESULTS OF SATURDAY’S GAMES. EXCELSIOR BEAT GREYTOWN. The Wairarapa Ladies' Hockey Association’s competitions were continued on Saturday in good weather conditions. Most interest centred in the meeting between Excelsior and Greytown, at Greytown. Excelsior’s win by 3 goals to nil was not as easy as the scores would indicate. The teams were very evenly matched in most departments, but Excelsior showed more finish when in the circle. Greytown’s shooting was very erratic and they lost several good chances through persistent offside breaches. These were mainly committed by young and inexperienced players, of which there are several in the Greyt'own team this season. As the season advances these faults should largely disappear and the play of the southern team will improve greatly in consequence. The results of the various games played were as follow: — a Senior. Excelsior 3. Grey town 0; Carter ton A 4, Carterton B 2; Kia Ora 4, College 3. Junior. Sincerity 8, College A 0; Excelsior 10, Carterton, 0; College B a bye.
