EGMONT CLUB’S WINTER MEETING MASTER LACKHAM WINS STEEPLECHASE. SANCTION SCORES IN McRAE HANDICAP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HAWERA, May 9. Horses trained at Trentham by P. Burgess won the two main events at the Egmont Racing Club’s winter meeting at Hawera yesterday. Master Lackham taking the Egmont Steeplechase and Sanction the Mcßae Handicap. It was a great day for outsiders-. The day was fine. Rain set in heavily soon after the last race was run. The- track provided good winter going. There was a good attendance and the totalisator handled £38,663,105, against £28,000 10s last year, an increase of £10,572. The Ashburton County Racing Club’s autumn meeting was held in overcast weathei and there was a shower after the seventh race. The course was in excellent order and the attendance was good.
