FIRE BRIGADE MEETING SUPERINTENDENT HONOURED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The members of the Greytown Fire Brigade met last evening to congratulate Superintendent J. Wood on his having received the United Fire Brigade’s Association Gold Star to mark his 25 years’ service. Deputy-Superintendent W. Wood presided and there was a full attendance of firemen and auxiliaries. In proposing the toast of the guest of the evening, the chairman stated that Superintendent Wood had given long and faithful service to the fighting fire service. He had the confidence of all the brigade members and the citizens of the town.
In reply Superintendent Wood thanked the members for the honour extended to him and expressed the hope that he would be able to continue for many years as a member of the brigade. i The opportunity was taken to welcome home Fireman H. Peterson, who had recently returned from overseas. Best wishes were extended to Fireman W. Everett, who was under orders to proceed to camp. Boy Scouts. There was a good attendance at the Boy Scout parade on Monday night. The time was occupied in learning the uses to which the staff could be put, such as bridge building and trestle work. TOWN HALL “DESIGN FOR SCANDAL.”
The outstanding comedy success, “Design for Scandal,” will be shown at the matinee at the Town Hall tomorrow and again in the evening. The leading poles are in the hands of Walter Pidgeon, Rosalind Russell, Edward Arnold and Lee Bowman.
