DISORDER IN SOFIA
TWO DAVS OF SERIOUS RIOTING CROWDS MACHINE-GUNNED. REPORTS OF HEAVY DEATHROLL. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON. May 6. Widespread rioting, in which police and soldiers machine-gunned crowds, raged in Sofia for two days, from May 4, says the “Evening Standard’s” Berne correspondent. The deathroll is reported to be heavy. Incidents reminiscent of the repression by Dolfuss of the Austrian Socialists occurred in various parts of the city. The leaders of the disturbance apparently were well-organised Socialists.
