WOMEN’S DIVISION

MASTERTON BRANCH MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. APPEAL ON BEHALF OF EGG FLOOR. There was a good attendance of members at the meeting of the Masterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union on Wednesday. Mrs C. C. Jackson presided. Motions of sympathy were passed to the relatives of Misses Heckler, Gray and Kummer in their recent bereavement. The president spoke'of the late Miss Heckler’s long connection with the division first as a member of the Masterton branch. When the Maurice-ville-Ihuraua branch was formed she became its leader in all its good work. A donation of £5 was made to the Country District Red Cross Sub-Centre. A resolutioxi was passed that the conference should take place this year.

It was decided that Home Nursing classes be held in the Rest Room on Wednesday, commencing at 1.15 p.m.

The shop held in the morning did brisk business. The pumpkin was won by Miss M. Speedy (weight 121b5.). The stallholders for the next meeting, in June, will be Mesdames B. Skeet, W. Bunny, R. Morris and C. H. McKenzie. Mr R. Kebbell, chairman of the Production Council, attended the meeting, and asked for the co-operation of members in supplying eggs to the egg floor. He expressed the need of this so that the children should get their full share, and that was at least 3 eggs each a week. At the present time this was not possible as there were not enough eggs to go round. He made an appeal to raise poultry on farms and those who did so would be amply paid for their endeavour.

The members promised they would, if possible, do all they could to help and urge others to do the same.
