BOY SCOUTS CARD PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the card party held by the Boy Scout Committee last evening. The prizes were won by Mesdames A. Knutson, T. Jackson, junr., M. Parker and A. Thompson. Agricultural Club. The annual meeting of the Carterton Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Club will be held in the Foresters’ Hall tomorrow at 1.30. The schools in the group are requested to send delegates to help to elect the officers for the ensuing year. Longbush, Gladstone, Ponatahi, Waihakeke, Parkvale, Dalefield, Clareville, West Taratahi and Carter ton are the schools in this group, and each is entitled to two delegates, with the exception of Carterton, which has four delegates. Women’s Division Dance. There was an excellent attendance at the State Theatre last eyening, when members of the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held a dance. The floor was in good order, and the dance music provided by Mrs V. J. Ashton’s orchestra was greatly appreciated. Extras were played by Misses Verna Sorensen, Evelyn Lorenzen and Mr T. Udy. Mi* V. J. Ashton was M.C. Novelty dances were won by Miss Ngaire Williams and partner and Mrs S .McCarty and partner. The gathering was most enjoyable. Hockey. The following players will represent a Carterton team against a Masterton team at Lansdowne on Saturday, at 2.30 p.m.:—B. Hopkins, D. Benge, B. Goodin, D .McKenzie, I. Butcher, B. Fryer, R. Sayer, W. Deller and L. Fitzgerald. Charge Against Labourer. Pleading guilty in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court to a charge of having indecently assaulted a boy at Carterton on December 1, 1937, Hugh Thomas Ray, aged 44, a labourer, of Foxton, was committed by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., to the Supreme Court for sentence. He pleaded guilty to a charge of sending indecent photographs through the post, and that case was adjourned until the Supreme Court has dealt with him. Maori War Effort. A dance will be held in the . State Theatre, Carterton, on Saturday' night in connection with the Maori war effort. The music will be supplied by Mr Tom Udy. Personal. Mrs Preston, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs F. Court, Waihakeke. REGENT THEATRE A BRILLIANT SHOW. “Honeymoon for Three,” a gay romance, with Ann Sheridan, George Brent and Osa Massen in the leading roles will be the chief picture at the j Regent Theatre tonight. The screen sensation, “Jungle Cavalcade,” will also be shown.
