HOMING PIGEONS
MASTERTON CLUB. RACE FROM WAIPUKURAU. The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club held a race on Saturday from Waipukurau, an airline distance of 83 miles. The weather conditions were overcast, with a strong southerly wind. The following were the placings:—Stewart and Son’s “Windy Weather” (time, 2 hrs. 20 mins. 57 secs.), 1; Stewart and Son’s “Imperium King” (2 hrs. 27 mins. 21 secs.), 2; N. Gardner’s “High Ideal” (2 hrs. 34 mins. 29 secs.), 3; L. Wickens’s “Lady Margaret” (2 hrs. 34 min. 56 secs.), 4; A. Pinkney’s “Lady Dix” (2 hrs. 59 mins. 12 secs.), 5; L. Wickens’s “Sky Queen’’ (3 hrs. 49 mins. 32 secs.), 6. The following are the winners, in connection with the points prize:— Stewart and Sons, 84 points, 1; A. Pinkney, 74 points, 2; Grant and Forrester, 51 points, 3; L. Wickens, 50 points, 4. The next race will be from Napier, an airline distance of 125 miles, and is for the I. Mayes's cash special prize.
