HITLER’S BLUNDER
. f — ■■ LOSING MEN & MATERIAL, UN COSTLY CAMPAIGN FURTHER GAINS BY ALLIED TROOPS. IN SPITE OF COUNTER-ATTACKS. LONDON, April 30. The Secretary for Indian (Mr Amery) said in a speech that Hitler had played into the hands of the Allies by throwing all the forces he could into Tunisia. No campaign could be more costly to the enemy than that now being fought in North Africa. The latest news from the battle fronts is that the Allies are meeting counter-attacks in the centre and making progress in some other areas. First Army troops have captured a stronghold commanding the road from Medjez el Bab to Tunis and beaten off a very heavy counter-attack. The French have made further progress south-east of Pont du Fahs.
