They attacked a convoy of eight ships off the coast of Brittany. Minesweepers at the real’ of ■the convoy received four hits from two Whirlwind bombers, and another minesweeper and a trawler also received bomb hits. Despite intense light and heavy flak, the escorting fighters swept down to a low level and raked the enemy ships with machine-gun fire.
