ON SHIPS LEAVING AUSTRALIA ' FOR ISLANDS.

(By Telegraph-Press Association—Copyright)

CANBERRA, April 28.

No ship may now leave any Australian port for Darwin, New* Guinea, or islands in the operational areas in the north unless it is equipped against gas attack. This is the effect of an order gazetted by the Chief of the Australian Naval Staff. The order provides that before merchant ships may leave for any destination in Australian operational theatres they must be equipped with gas masks, complete decontamination gear, and gas-proof clothing for members of the decontamination squads.
