FIVE ENEMY SHIPS
SUNK OR SEVERELY DAMAGED BY BRITISH LIGHT NAVAL FORCES. AIR ATTACK ON ANOTHER CONVOY. LONDON, April 28. Off the coast of Brittany this morning light naval forces sank or severely damaged five German ships in a convoy. The enemy vessels were under a large escort, but ' this did not prevent two destroyers from battling their way into close range and torpedoing two of the supply ships, one of which was large.
The destroyers then shelled the same ships and it is believed that both were sunk. The fight went on for ovei’ an hour and two of the escort vessels, which burst'into flames, were almost certainly sunk and a E-boat blown up. The attack caused considerable confusion among the enemy and several of their ships were seen firing on one another.
Another enemy convoy was attacked off the coast of Norway by aircraft cl the Coastal Command.
