FERTILISER RATIONING
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS.
STATEMENT OF POSITION.
“The closing date for applications for fertiliser for the 1943-44 season is Friday next, April 30, and all applications in writing must be in the hands of the chairman of the Fertiliser Committee, Box 11, Masterton, by that date,” stated Mr N. Lamont, chairman of the committee, today. “It should be understood, of course, that the committee is not permitted to review any cases considered two years ago except where it can be shown that all the circumstances were not before the committee on that occasion,” said Mr Lamont. “The committee’s present concern is with (a) cases where the farmer was unable to lodge an application two years ago, and (b) cases, where the ‘two year base’ period, June 1, 1939, to May 31, 1941, shown by documentary evidence to have been an unfair indication of normal usage. Most cases in the latter category were considered two years ago, and it is expected that the bulk of the applications will be from those who have not previously made any application at all, neither through their firms nor direct to the Fertiliser Committee —for instance, these will include new purchasers of properties. “Applicants should understand,” said Mr Lamont, “that it may be some time before the results of their applications are made known, and, in any case, any increased allowances granted will not be available until the next rationing year, that is, until after July 1 next.”
