CASUALTIES DURING LAST FOUR MONTHS.

LONDON, April 25

In Burma Japanese troops have been foiled, in a new attempt to infiltrate into the Arakan defences. The Japanese lost a number of men to our guns. British airmen were out over the battle area and attacked Japanese airfields and railway targets.

Japanese casualties on land and sea and in the air in the last four months on the Arakan front are estimated at 4200, including between 1000 and 2000 killed. Our casualties in dead, wounded and missing are 3514, of whom 1942 are Indian and 1572 British. This total includes 221 Indian and 171 British killed.
