Rehabilitation of Returned Men.
“No conscientious objectoi’ is going to have anything to do with the rehabilitation of returned men,” said the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Holland, at the Whangarei Town Hall. The statement was applauded.
Dance in Masonic Hall. There was a large attendance at the dance held in the Masonic Hall on Thursday night by Hansell’s Interhouse and Sports Club. Mr H. Pratt was M.C. and Mrs Ashton’s Orchestra played the dance music. Supper’ was handed round by the girls of Hansell’s Club.
Patriotic Fund Scheme. A recommendation by the national executive that organisations affiliated with the federation approve a scheme to provide for a contribution of Id in the £ on wages to the National Patriotic Fund conditional on such contributions being subsidised by an equal amount from employers was carried at the annual conference of delegates to the New Zealand Federation of Labour, which ended on Thursday.
Hospital Admissions. Robert Graham, 12 years of age, a boarder at Wairarapa College Hostel, fell off a horse at Ngaaape yesterday and fractured his right wrist. He was admitted to the Masterton Hospital early yesterday afternoon. Last evening Kenneth Ross, of Upper Manaia Road, an employee at the Waingawa Freezing Works, was admitted to hospital, suffering from a crushed finger. The condition of both was reported to be satisfactory this morning.
